Trying Blockbuster (continued)

The first three queued titles arrived on time, but in fullscreen format instead of the widescreen format in which I requested them. In fact, the only edition listed for ‘Dead Man’ was widescreen, indicating they didn’t even carry a fullscreen version, but I received a fullscreen version. Blockbuster support says it’s a distribution center problem. We’ll see if they fix this. If not, a couple bucks a month in savings over Netflix is definitely not worth having to watch every movie in re-edited form.

Honestly, Blockbuster, do you really think people who are going to watch Jarmusch and Kiarostami will have any appreciation for pan-and-scan?

  1. Ha! How typical of Blockbuster. I can honestly say that I have NEVER rented from them, either in a store or online, and have no planes to do so in the future. I have done the WalMart online rental thing and they were okay, but their service couldn’t touch Netflix’s. I’m happy with the original, at least until Amazon gets into the biz.

  2. Heh, yeah. I’ve also been pissed off by Blockbuster because they told me earlier I couldn’t get an account there without a credit card (debit card wouldn’t do it). I talked to Blockbuster online because I wante to know if I’d be able to USE the coupons they sent me, and they told me that ANY store should let me set up an account with just a debit card. What the hell?

But now, I’ve moved, and there’s no blockbuster anywhere near me, so all these coupons will go to waste. I wonder when they expire…
